SSL/TLS stands for Secure Sockets Layer and Transport Layer Security. SSL and TLS are both protocols used to secure communication over the internet. SSL/TLS certificates are still called SSL certificates, but TLS is the more modern and secure protocol.
SSL/TLS certificates secure internet connections by encrypting data sent between a web browser and the website server. This means that data transmitted between the browser and server is scrambled and can only be read by the intended recipient.
SSL/TLS certificates are the standard for all major web browsers and ensure a safer internet experience for users.
